Club Stand CSMA Brands Hatch
20 May Brands Hatch Civil Service Motorsports Association Event
When we found out that organisers had to be on the "Club stand" at Brands Hatch before 8 am we thought that perhaps we should not have volunteered to help set up the stand. Later were pleased we had, when we found out how popular the event was to become. At one stage during the day people had been queuing for around two hours, due to an accident locally, and the sheer popularity of the event.
This was a new event for the Club and we had an amazing turnout for such a new event. The Club stand was well supported on the day and the "MX-5 Only" parking area in the car park was packed with around 150 cars.
The racing (When we got a chance to get off the "Club stand") was to a very high standard, and there were many shops and exhibits where you could buy more "Toys" for yourselves or for the cars. There were no MX-5s racing but a couple of earlier "Touring car" Mazdas were competing on the day. About the only problem encountered during the day was the sheer numbers of people at the event, making it a little less easy than usual (For a Classic car event) to find the best spots for viewing the racing from.
Many thanks are due to Peter Davies in the Eastern Region for arranging the meeting and the CSMA were very grateful for our participation on the day. We have been asked to set up a stand at future CSMA events and hopefully this will now be an annual event for the Club.
